Vegan Tempeh BLT Sandwich

Sandwiches are an amazing invention. They’re easy to pack up and take on the go, a great addition to a spontaneous picnic, and a super quick lunch or snack for a grumbling tummy.

But what happens when you’re running out of ideas and getting sick of the same old vegan sandwiches? This is where the wonder ingredient tempeh comes into play!

First off, if you’re unfamiliar with tempeh let me introduce you. Made from fermented soybeans, tempeh is very nutritious and protein rich. It’s an excellent source of vegan probiotics, vitamins and dietary fiber.

On top of that, it’s a superhero at soaking up flavors such as this yummy tempeh marinade. Because of its soaking up superpower, it makes a great plant-based alternative to bacon and therefore perfect for this vegan BLT sandwich, as well as for vegan bowl toppings, for instance one of my favorite vegan rice bowls with smoky tempeh.

Not only does tempeh make a great bacon alternative, but I love using it as a substitute for ground beef. Perfect vegan sloppy joes use crumbled tempeh and are a very welcome comfort food on a chilly day.

How to Make Tempeh BLT Sandwiches

The trick to making a fantastic sandwich is delicious bread. And while you could go out and buy your favorite store-bought loaf, I want to challenge you to make bread from scratch. I promise you; homemade bread is a total game changer.

Baking your own bread may sound overwhelming, but it’s actually super easy, and incredibly delicious. Healthy, and hearty this No-Fail Wholemeal Bread is going to bring your tempeh sandwich to a whole new level.

Vegan BLT Sandwich Ingredients

You will have to have a batch of vegan bacon already prepared. What you are going to love about this bacon is that you can make a big batch of it and keep it in the fridge for up to a month.

That means whenever you’re ready, take out however much you’d like, throw it in the oven and enjoy fresh, crispy vegan bacon whenever you so desire!

Spread some mashed avocado on the bread of your choice, layer with lettuce, tomato and a few pieces of the vegan tempeh bacon strips and you’re done! Enjoy your super simple, yet wholly satisfying tempeh sandwich.
