Don’t you just love a crisp sandwich with a smoky kick mixed with the smooth, nutty taste of avocado? Then you are going to enjoy this drool worthy Vegan Tempeh BLT Sandwich. It’s a whole lot healthier than your traditional BLT, but you’re guaranteed to be just as satisfied after your plate is polished off.
Sandwiches are an amazing invention. They’re easy to pack up and take on the go, a great addition to a spontaneous picnic, and a super quick lunch or snack for a grumbling tummy.
But what happens when you’re running out of ideas and getting sick of the same old vegan sandwiches? This is where the wonder ingredient tempeh comes into play!
First off, if you’re unfamiliar with tempeh let me introduce you. Made from fermented soybeans, tempeh is very nutritious and protein rich. It’s an excellent source of vegan probiotics, vitamins and dietary fiber.
On top of that, it’s a superhero at soaking up flavors such as this yummy tempeh marinade. Because of its soaking up superpower, it makes a great plant-based alternative to bacon and therefore perfect for this vegan BLT sandwich, as well as for vegan bowl toppings, for instance one of my favorite vegan rice bowls with smoky tempeh.
Not only does tempeh make a great bacon alternative, but I love using it as a substitute for ground beef. Perfect vegan sloppy joes use crumbled tempeh and are a very welcome comfort food on a chilly day, as well as vegan eggplant lasagna.
